Today, the Governor of the region and Vitaliy Mutko, head of the governmental agency, met at a working meeting at the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation. The project for building of a regional center for short track competitions was supported by the federal government.
In the beginning of the meeting, Boris Dubrovskiy reported to Vitaliy Mutko, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation on sport facilities being built in the Chelyabinsk Region under the state program for the development of physical culture and sports. Then the future plans were discussed, in particular, the project for building of a new short track center. This project was supported and approved by Vitaliy Mutko, Minister of Sports.
«I am satisfied with communication with Minister. Our task was to summarize the joint projects of the region and the federation. In total, we keep to the declared time schedule. I also showed how professional sportsmen are trained,» Boris Dubrovskiy commented. «We discussed a particular question of the possibility to include the project for building of the regional short track center into the federal program for 2016–2020. The question was solved positively. Chelyabinsk will get its short track center! This will be a joint project of the ministry and regional government. The project will be co-financed from the federal budget for about 70%.»
The regional short track center is to be built in Chelyabinsk, near «Uralskaya Molniya». According to the working project, this will be a two-storeyed building. The new sports and recreation facility will be situated on a site with area of 12 thousand square meters, and the building area will be 4.9 thousand square meters. The gym with 30x60 meters ice arena and 150 seats tribune will have the area of 2.3 thousand square meters. Walls and roofing will be built of sandwich panels.
2015 was the record year for Chelyabinsk in terms of the number of sports infrastructure facilities under construction. Up-to-date, municipal budgets have received subsidies in the amount of 174.4 million rubles under the program «Development of Physical Culture and Sports in the Chelyabinsk Region» for 2015-2017. This funds are or have been used for construction and repair of 23 sports facilities, cross-functional recreation grounds, ski and roller routes and "health paths" in 17 municipalities of the region.
In particular, five facilities are being built with the use of federal funds: a swimming pool in Verkhneuralsk, ski and biathlon center named after Swetlana Ishmuratova in Zlatoust, half-pipe and ski-cross routes in «Solnechnaya Dolina» that are to be completed by the end of December. In addition, «Taganay» rink with artificial ice has been commissioned in Zlatoust as well as a football filed at "Centralny" stadium in Chelyabinsk. All facilities listed above were financed from the federal budget in the amount of 454.5 million rubles.
