First the festival was held in 2002 in Moscow and gathered around 45 collectives from different parts of the country. The Chelyabinsk region is one of the first where the regional version of “Sinegorje” appeared. In the Southern Urals it made debut in spring 2005. It gave the possibility for participants and spectators to come closer to peoples’ traditions of the country, to feel the beauty and completeness of cultural life beyond the Southern Urals. The best Russian collectives of folk music and dances demonstrate their skill in the festival.
The participants of “Sinegorje” in different years were State Dance Ensemble “Ural”, State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble of Igor Moiseev, State Academic Choreography Ensemble “Berezka” named after Nadezhda Nadezhdina, State Academic Kuban Cossack Chorus, State Academic Russian Folk Chorus named after Mitrofan Pyatnitsky, National Ensemble of Karelia song and dance “Kantele”, State Academic Ensemble of Folk Dance of the Republic of Bashkortostan named after Faizi Gaskarova.
