“URAL”, Dance Band

“Ural”, the state dace band, became the trademark of the South Urals and the whole Russia long ago. It carries on the choreographic traditions of the renowned band “Uralskaya Skomoroshina” where the six brothers Karachintsevs danced. When in 1979 it became evident that there was needed a band that would collect, keep and return the treasures of Ural folklore to viewers, “Ural” dance band appeared. The band originated in Chelyabinsk, the city shaped the creativity of the group, its topics, themes and dancing techniques in many ways. The unique and spectacular choreography: “Ural skaz”, “Chugunnaya tsepochka”, “Kaslinskoe Litye”, “Sinyushkin Kolodets”, “Sineglazovskie Barabushki”, “Plyas Vraspashku”, “Byshenka” became the golden fund of “Ural”.

During 30 years of its existence the band travelled the whole world with its tour: the famous band has been to the Central Asia, the Far East, the USA, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Australia, etc. “More than 500,000 of viewers discovered a huge Russian region, the natural border between the European plain in the west and Siberia in the east,” the French media wrote about “Ural”. The Parisian channel broadcast the concert of the band in 50 countries of the globe. In January 2001 “Ural” successfully performed more than 20 concerts in India.

Such talented choreographers as Victor Kopylov, Grigory Galperin and Boris Sokolkin worked in the band in various years. Today its authors and choreographers are Svetlana Lukina and Alexey Razin, the art director of ‘Ural” is the honored cultural worker of the Russian Federation Vladimir Karachintsev.
